Alba: Scotland

                                                                 Kayak Marathon     After parking, we carried our Kayaks to the shore. In little time, we both had all our items loaded and hatch covers in place.  After a few exchanged words, we were paddling on the peaceful and tranquil Loch Awe. Scott's vessel leads the way initially. His Kayak is a deep blue, while mine is a light blue with a 'marbled' lighter blue effect... a 'luck-of-the-draw' situation, rather than choice. The forward position alternated, as the voyage progressed. We paddled in our customary relaxed and focused manner... in silence', bar the paddling sounds.     Without having spent much time in any detailed planning, we were content to paddle freely, knowing we'd recognise where and when to land, eat, and...

Bearing in mind that Ewen Morrison (myself) originally instigated this blog, a few words about me may be useful at the outset of the 'blog'? I've  enjoyed surfing the internet for many years before my retirement, in February 2010. I  had been a DSA ADI (Driving Standards Agency Approved Driving Instructor), or 'ADI' as we called each other.    That period of employment was of far greater value than you may think, the profession itself was wonderful, of course, yet the actual interactions between my clients/pupils was invaluable... and for ones that don't count value in monetary terms, this requires little further explanation! Classic Motorcycle This machine had just left from its parking place... my lens followed - which is natural enough if you're interested in classically designed motorcycles. The other photograph was the first shot, which immediately drew me into this encounter! I live in Dunbeg, by Oban in Argyll,  Scotland. We are blessed to live in what many motorcyclists refer to as 'Bikers Heaven'. ~ I hope that this is enough to say? ~ (for they who don't understand, I'm sorry for you ;) The last few words suggest a few more sentences... Europe Day Ninth of May 1950, French foreign minister, Robert Shuman noted: date for 'Europe Day' since 1986 Europeans happily do administer. However, commonly known as 'Schuman Day'! An honourable, celebration and a memorial, for peace, friendliness, and collaborations... successfully showing that peace's immortal: eternally proving our loving's conclusions! This particular painting was the first that he'd done completely in Acrylic paints... his previous use of it was due to the rapid drying qualities.                                                      Dunstaffnage Tree Imagine how much time the artist must have spent, in order to have drawn this image as accurately as this required! I write this, reflecting on my own previous thinking, over many younger years. I've been drawing since 'toddlerhood', like almost every child - childhood's magic and art blends occasionally...that blend does not evaporate (I'm still addicted!). I created this shaped board on which I painted 'Dunstaffnage Tree'. My lifetime of drawing constantly, on everything and everywhere, would have allowed me to draw and paint the resultant piece of art. That's as one may expect - but no, that truly was not the case. While drawing is as natural as anything that a person's evolution results in...the remarkable 'Tracedown' is a recent and generally unknown product....

                                             My first ever Abstract in Oils: 'ADIs Abstract'                                                   This painting has abstract references to the Highway Code. Probably recognisable to our motorists, of course. However, while I'm the artist, I've been intrigued by certain viewers' remarks. Most of us can understand the references to road signs, but what amazed me was someone liking: "the hollowed-out sun" - abstract painting, yes... But very abstract viewing - I didn't anticipate it!      Amateur Born an amateur to live's living; Give what is to give - for giving.
