Poetry Drafts

Aspirations Expectations and desires for things to happen: ambitions, aims, plans... dreams/daydreams are the foremost within the mind... sans illusion; from the darkest of possible forms - to a star?  Each to their own, we know - different outlooks; "Le dĂšrachdan" / "With my best wishes" ~ perhaps, when combining my languages, a stanza 'cooks'?  Time will tell, a good bake or a wee collapse! I'm both writing and realising not to mix any metaphors within my poetic pieces (sandwichs?), Nevertheless, humourless poetry, I hereby see: less appealing, as sometimes humour switches! © Ewen A. Times of change are wonderfully and educationally interesting: tomorrow's world awaits us, and here we're coming! 😍

Gordon Ross's Indycar Show ~

Morrison  The Phoney Political War becomes a real one... judging by Gordon's Indycar show, which is always much more dependable than the Mainstream Media - which is generally unionist in its delivery! E. A. Morrison @e.a.m.author, and:           Ewen A. Morrison < morrison.ewen@gmail.com At the end of the rainbow... not gold? There are numerous analogies which come to mind with this old photograph of mine, tickling my fairly wry sense of humour... originally, in my younger years, my key focus was on my family's well-being and so forth! Generally, when one's fit and healthy, paid employment is sought - comparatively easy back then, compared to the present times! We fortunate people could've counted our blessings while recognising how random such matters were - and perhaps, still are? Most of us know someone who'd be pleased to land a job, for various reasons, over and above the benefit of a paid income! My own 'job' ended on the 4th of February, 2010... I'd been an 'ADI': an abbreviation of DSA ADI, which is quite a mouthful 😐 That car crash destroyed both the car and my business - but not me 😉 ~ That incident finished my term

My Name?

Looking at you, looking at me?                                                                     My Name?     You can see who and what I am: and you know, I have a name Just like you, but NOT Sam! Perhaps, can guess what it is? You can see's not like eating: priming/chewing Cud is bliss! If I was a girl like you, then, Keira would suit me too...  I'm " Highland Coo ", no hen! GP x  đŸ˜‰ Darling, Keira, while I know you love reading, I hope you're OK with your GP's silly poems etc? Anyway, if you don't really like them, I'll cry! (anyway, Petendy-world is a nice place, even for some Grandparents too!) ~   We're really looking forward to coming and visiting your lovely Perth and our very lovely family, there! Bye, bye , Keira , and we'll be speaking again, soon!  GP 🌝 x

Revisingly...

Evolving                                                                                 We are as we are, everyone could say,               life's story, both follows... and guides; 'as-were', lies behind you... anyway ~ eventually, fresh discovering: glides! © Ewen A. Morrison                                      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~                                        Sometimes, life's path follows unpredictable routes - compared to wherever you'll really be... such is the lottery of life! These words flow quite easily, from someone who witnesses, but is more than just a witness - I'm the husband-father here! Many years after I'd met my beloved wife, Rosemary we became happy parents... first to our son, Scott, and in due course, our daughter Claire. I'll try not to elapse into parental doting tones - easier to write than to comply! However, today, Saturday 8 th of December 2018, I'm writing this pie

"UK is blocking..."

This part of a statement could be taken from a huge range of unfinished ones... almost anyone in Scotland could complete it - without the faintest hint of a positive conclusion! This particular piece comes from:  "THE UK Government will not allow Holyrood ministers to pay £65 settled status fees for European citizens who are working in Scotland's public services, Nicola Sturgeon has said." My political beliefs have emerged and evolved, year after year - and I'm in my sixties now. The current political situation is almost worse than the darkest of memories: "bought and sold for English gold"... a wee nod to our history... however, the 'far-right' are a real entity (enemy?), and to say otherwise would be extremely nieve and risky! Now, rather than thinking of such thoughts as hyperbole, we must realise that we're needing to act honourably and thoughtfully, for ourselves and our combined futures! One's grandchildren will hold us to account! T

PM's Legacy...

Grimace? Used if something horrible, or grim has happened, expressing, saving words, breath, perhaps inking? Maybe seen among certain members of an electorate, at least south of Scotland's border, I'm thinking! © Ewen A. Morrison   I'm inflicted with some form of inbuilt 'reactionary-rhyming' obsession... ach well, so have some others I can think of too - you can add to that number, I suppose ~ who knows? 🌝    Anyway, my own history includes times when I've been inspired by both my actual work colleagues and the relevant incidents... perhaps this is an incurable condition? 😐 Potential?  'UK' faces bills: in the billions, we do hear, such chaos, much, much more than a tear! Theresa May, however, is implying that it is wiser than the rabbit from her hat? © Ewen A. Morrison  See what I mean? 😏

Alba: Scotland The above is the newly composed title for this Blog. The original title: 'Alba's Images' (Scotland's Images), was for what was becoming an Article-drafting style entity... for my own practice and assessingly developing my amateur typing abilities - proving to be quicker than my handwriting, these days(ish?). Most of us - if not all - are amateurs at the outset of any practice ~ so there's little shame to be concerned about; some of us are only gradually accepting the status of adulthood; in Scottish Gaelic: 's ann mar sin a tha ann - "that's how it is" ~ I hope you'll tolerate my mixing my languages here? When I say 'my languages', I'm truly entitled to write these words... my original language is really my 'mother tongue'. I had to learn a new language from my infancy, and I'm still in the process of evolving that particular education: a lifetime's study, (if not longer? ;) ... now, rather t

Morrison I'm also hopeful that my inclusion of the above stanza and photograph will be acceptable? as I'm using it to demonstrate what may be possible. This verse is my own work, which is posted along with this photograph - both being my ©, so to speak 🌝 Perhaps a set of pages where each page is devoted to the number of verses used? ~ no harm in investigating/trying, eh? 😐 ~ we'll see... ........................................................................ McCrone Report

Image
Knowing about the McCrone Report?  What have you learned about it? Generally, I'd only answer a qualified yes! If I'm asked to explain what I knew/know about that report, my limited response would tell how little that I really understood. Broadly speaking, I've interested in politics since my early teenage years and I would have been pleased to be able to vote as early as our present teenagers can do - we couldn't, of course. These are changed days, indeed! Most of my thinking and understandings emerged from access to a wonderfully wide range of reading experiences and sources... I was a child of 'a bookish family', and 'computers were science-fiction items.  (almost unimaginable to kids today!)  In this day and age, it may seem like an alien concept to youngsters:  my youngest years were spent in a home which lay outside areas of television reception - and we were richer than we realised, because of that.

Living/breathing

Living/breathing We are more than the sum of our parts, living and breathing...beating hearts... eternal existence - more than mythical thoughts and fantasies, really factual! We inhale/exhale ~ evolution's charms, more'n bibles/preachers: mind's farms. Perhaps, we should respect the heart? 'Gut-feelings'- *smointeachdainn part!                             © Ewen A. Morrison (*Scottish Gaelic - "smointeachdainn": 'considering, thinking'.) My enjoyment in reading many blogs has continually added to my wonder and curiosity! Generally similar to my personal following of several visual arts (bar ballet! ;). These passions have been continually enriching, of course. That enrichment inevitably fosters and encourages the yen to practice, practice and practice... longing for improvement...an almost impossible objective - but a wonderfully enjoyable journey! Thanks for your time, Ewen

Keira's Canvas

Image
Once upon a time... A certain person was briefly visiting our small garden shed - for reasons that will remain a mystery - when I tripped over my own feet, and not for the first time ever ! : " amaideach !" /amadʲəx/   ' foolish, ridiculous, silly'  ~  (as my mother tongue would put it) ~  Well, apart from flitting back and fore between languages, the story will continue... My first attempt at drawing the above image was purely for posting the drawing 'online', so that our granddaughter, Keira, could have a laugh at her  GP.  'GP' was first coined when Dylan, her big brother, was a young boy and our first grandchild... he used to call me 'Grampa'. Like all children, they're delightful, of course! However, some of us cannot resist 'winding them up' - I'm guilty as charged! so, I told Dylan: when we're talking in front of pretty young girls, just call me

Old Masters/New Painters

Image
Amateur cover ... freehand painting! This 'new painter', will add a few more words ~ This photograph was taken of one of my oil painting 'covers' - covering one of my hero's works - namely, Johannes Vermeer, the fabulous Dutch artist! More of his details and examples can be found online these days... rather than traditional book reading methods.   We need to bear in mind that every 'master' began as an amateur... worth saying, but not always a credible challenge! Admittedly,  when hearing artists stating that they couldn't draw...  professional modesty? - not always! I used to think that drawing was a prerequisite for being a true artist... the ability to draw reasonably well. That opinion lasted well into my later years - until I learned about using 'Tracedown'. What is Tracedown? I've used the 'wax free tracing down paper' version, which states that it's "an all-

@ channel 4

Image
In a recent 'Channel 4' programme which was about the flagship Brexit TV debate, there were no Scottish representatives... to quote someone who's equally disappointed: "it would have been nice, for once, to have a perspective from all four nations and not just an English perspective" ~ 'all the panel live/work in England' ~ Perhaps that small quotation says enough? I'm unable to relate to Mr Nigel Farage in any truly political manner... especially as I understand that he is not representing a political party!  Maybe he looks up to a mirror to see his hero? Anyway, as I've stated, he is clearly irrelevant to Scotland's realistic electorate - let alone the average person within the so-called United Kingdom! I must confess, here, to being an entirely biased writer: I'm a member of the SNP... for as long as it may require for us to regain our independence ~   Saor Alba/Free Scotland!   🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿  So, there you have my lifelong feelin

First Grandson

Image
Elder grandson, Dylan, painted in Oils... based on an early photograph.     Every time I visit this 'Alba's Images', the temptation to add another image is quite irresistible... so, here's another. As an addict of both photography and painting, how can I avoid combining both? A rhetorical question, of course. I'm delighted that artisticness, transmits via our genes!  When I write comments about my art interests, it's sometimes a question of having to focus on one or the other... it feels odd, trying to segment this interest, without wishing to form priority - certainly outside my abilities. Implication: 'artisticness' being some form of "gut-instinct'  perhaps, but why question... simply enjoy, and share anyway! Every related aspect and ponderance - good meditation always (smilingly writing). Maybe consider the essence of Art-Zen... feeling a poem coming here... and will post ~    Art-Zen, or Zen-Art for new poem to be writing soon, rela
